9/28/2008 Paul Newman in <Color of Money>You start over again with a new pair of glasses, to penetrate the game you used to thrive. You start over against those as crumbled as you. They are just the step-stones to the kids, up on the throne you gave up half way through. Fertilize the barrens. Chill your stiff spine. Fight all the way back, till the good day to die. --- To Paul the new man. 9/26/2008 我的愛情是一卷自製混音帶pintolivros:我的愛情是一卷自製混音帶 - 樂多日誌 我的愛情是一卷自製混音帶 ubuntu apptuxguitar Why Should Rock Stars Expect To Be Rich? Why Should Rock Stars Expect To Be Rich? | Word Magazine It's no longer enough to have two million people like your song, buy the single and earn you a house. Instead, you need a deeper relationship with fewer people. 疲れたとても疲れて、 とても何人かの人を連絡したくて、 しかしまた元気が出ません. 何を言うべきですかをも知りません. 9/24/2008 First reactionFacing grounded accusation and available good examples, is it truly hard for Chinese to say "We are sorry. We were doing something wrong. We shall learn from the good examples and improve"? No. People would answer with "Things like this also happened to those guys before. It had taken them decades to create such good examples", "The so-called civilization was merely an outfit on top of material success by all dirty means", "The situation in China was initialized by the imperialists who now have the guts to make these shameless accusations", "Stop complaining if you can't come up with a viable solution", "You should read this and that to fully comprehend what has happened here and what is the truth behind those so-called good examples out there", "What? Why should I say sorry for what a bunch of bad guys did? It is not my fault as an individual". When you do something wrong, say I was wrong and I'm sorry; if it is someone in your category or group, bear some guilts yourself; when shown the existing results that could make a difference, at least say "Yes, thx, I will look into that". By default, nothing is intrinsically unitary, yet the first reaction does not have to go all the way down into the philosophical layer, in order to make faults look better or to drastically dilute guilts. We have police and military, but do we not have conscience in the first place? Also, just because we are not capable consultants with lots of feasible professional plans, we are not allowed to say "Hey, this is nasty"? There are some spots in first impression that hardly go wrong even if it is not at full scale. First reaction, similarly, shows how the mindset works. 到底看哪个????Last.fm上推荐从现在到年底要来我又有兴趣的: Mogwai, Beck, Stereolab, Joe Satriani, Madonna, of Montreal, Sisters of Mercy, Broken Social Scene, In Flames, NIN, Girl Talk, Neil Young, Soilwork, Great Lake Swimmer
The best news so far...is that Yuka chan came back to life. Truly relieved. After all, one who possesses such intense resent towards death and such overwhelming expectation towards life and career at such an early age ought not be rewarded with termination. 9/18/2008 ubuntu applibsox-fmt* For some reason, sox in Ubuntu repo does not handle dependency well, so these libs should be manually installed, otherwise sox would fail to recognize a lot of formats. 918. 9/17/2008 Stupid motion pictures and vision. There is no way to truly preview a movie/drama/anime (anime would be easier though, 20min as the maximum cost). Previewing should be a sort of skimming that causes minimum immersion, especially the discomfortable kind over a bad movie. I can't think of a way to judge the quality of a movie prior to any emotinoal fluctuation and a fairly amount of cognitive investment. Some say an image is worth 1000 words. But a 90min bad movie could mean billions of crappy words. and the time it kills could've serve as a deep experience (reading) of meaningful words that can be efficiently previewed. I feel that there is a trend that images in general, static or motion, become a waste of time. The most sensitive sensor of human kind accounts for 80% of information that we absorb, yet most of them goes to very surface perception and reaction, and they increasingly devour the storage space in both the physical and binary world, and require more and more time and effort to quench the addiction on the general consumers' part, and to maintain and perserve on the professionists' part. More as an inspiration than an evidence, I remember how I was when I stayed away from visual immersion. I was more attentive and more sensitive over nuances of things. Above all, information was not received/injected as gigantic amount of doses, even with music; on the contrary, it was intermittent attacks, a space where you clearly position yourself for meditation. I accepted video entertainment relatively late when a music snob expresses his preference over movies as an updated religion: "Good movies would be your life-time companies, unlike music that tends to either slip your mind as time goes by or drain your initial passion over revisiting." As years go by, media entertainment is corrupting in a magnificent way. Expressions and techniques are under way of perfection and hi-tech is getting higher to the extent that it's not uncommon that non-linear and rhythmic narrations are even popular in low-budget mundane world, where stories are horriblly miminal. We become more amazed than touched. The more we immerse ourselves, the less we can communicate. "Have you seen ....", "No", "You better... and plus this and that..." Another few years passed, and the asynchronous possession/experience goes on and on. The odds that physically adjacent individuals share thoughts and experience are getting fainter. I know there are better ways, such as storytelling like we earnestly did in childhood, where one could be surrounded by a lot and serve a lot uninterrupted. Somehow now we lack the time and patience to bridge the expanding gap by teaching and learning attentively. I include fashion and home embellishment and a lot more into the same category. How it looks gradually outweighs all the other dimensions; and the word "appearance" could be understood as a hierarchical idea, and at each level the frontend gets more points, e.g., the career of a husband wins more attention for the family, even if the house is always half empty, because it's the frontend, the appearance. No intimacy is required, as long as the individuals look like functioning with little conflict, two laptops, tow cups of tea, sitting within a few feet. The girl who sings the song in front of global audience should not have any cosmetic defects, in a well-defined manner. It is known that more principles are required for the frontend in the order of perception and cognition, but shouldn't we stop somewhere and start thinking about what it feels like within the picture after all the struggle? No, because you and I want to leave a mark, want to erase the old ones that shine less or even stain, and perhaps we want it too much and we bleed others or the organs of ourselves. Unless you can tell me how to preview any motion pictures, how to preview the apprearance, I'll take a break and find a way. |
